missing some features

As usual in my reviews, lets start at the 5 stars I would give for what is being advertised.

• The app description says “use Trillian to connect to Facebook […]”. This is hardly possible. No notifications are displayed, and it is impossible to access Facebook messages. Current rating: 4 stars.

• The same can be said about Twitter: Trillian makes new Tweets indistinguishable from those I have already read, and doesnt even change the menu bar icon when there are unread tweets. The only way the app notifies me is through Growl. Current rating: 3 stars.

• The app is advertised as “a free messenger”, and while it is indeed free to download the app from the App Store, some features, such as chatlog backups in the cloud and syncing them to an iPhone, do not work correctly without a subscription to a paid service. Current rating: 2 stars.

• The app is advertised as “Trillian for Mac”. To me, this implies a feature set comparable to Trillian for other platforms, such as Windows. However, the app lacks some of the key features of Trillian for Windows, such as support for Skype and IRC. Final rating: 1 star.
